Classical acting requires specific skills and some performers find it quite daunting, preferring to avoid auditions rather than tackle those dreaded monologues. Classical texts can be difficult to understand and not all actors feel confident when it comes to working on them.

At Scena Mundi, classical acting is our speciality and we know what skills the actor should have in his/her toolkit. We are good at sharing our expertise and can help you acquire those skills and give your career a boost.

Cecilia Dorland, our Artistic Director, is a stage director and a Shakespearean scholar. She studied English (PhD - La Sorbonne) and Classical Acting (MA -Royal Central School of Speech and Drama) and after working at Shakespeare's Glob for two years as a researcher and text consultant for actors, she founded Scena Mundi. Since then she has directed many critically acclaimed classical plays, from traditional versions of TS Eliot's Murder in the Cathedral and Shakespeare's Richard II to a 1920's inspired Volpone, or The Fox and a 1980's Edward II. Her dual expertise means that she works very closely with the text and brings her literary understanding into the performance of the actors she directs.
